Prof. Dr. Fatih Gedikli

Fatih Gedikli is a computer scientist and Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data at the Institute of Computer Science at Hochschule Ruhr West. His teaching covers Software Engineering, Web Engineering and Applied Artificial Intelligence.

His research focuses on the development of recommender systems, a key technology in machine learning. In an increasingly information-saturated world, such systems support users in discovering relevant products, services and content – whether selecting a book, choosing a hotel or identifying other personalised offerings. As an essential component of the modern web, recommender systems contribute to the creation of tailored digital experiences.

As a strong advocate of big data analytics, Professor Gedikli develops innovative solutions and tools to automatically detect and interpret complex patterns in large-scale datasets. A particular emphasis of his work lies in the development of AI-based data pipelines that integrate deep learning and natural language processing (NLP) to extract targeted information from unstructured sources such as news articles, social media and scientific publications, making it usable for data-driven decision-making.
