Deadlines

Please check the exact application deadlines for your desired degree program. The deadlines listed here apply to applications submitted via the application portal as well as via uni-assist.
Language skills
Please note that all degree programs are taught in German, with only a few individual courses held in English. Good German language skills at level C1 are therefore an absolute prerequisite for studying at HRW.
The following language certificates are accepted for studying at HRW:
- DSH exam with a grade of 2 or 3
- TestDaF with a grade of 4 or 5 in all four parts of the exam
- Goethe Certificate C1 or C2
- German Language Diploma of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs - Second Level (DSD II)
- Please note: TELC certificates will no longer be accepted as of the summer semester 2022
Conditional admissions
Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences does not generally issue conditional admissions.
Pre-study internships
Proof of a relevant pre-study internship is required for enrollment in the civil engineering and industrial engineering and construction management programs. Details can be found on the pages for the respective programs or under the general admission requirements.
Application procedure
Graduates of a German preparatory college can apply directly via the HRW online application portal (eCampus).
The foreign school leaving certificate with a certified translation in English or German must also be uploaded to the application portal. This is the only way to ensure that the average grade is calculated correctly.
Specialization courses
The decisive factor for possible admission to study at HRW is that the focus of the assessment test matches the desired degree program.
Graduates of focus course W have access to the following degree programs at Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences:
- BWL – Finanzwirtschaft und Management (berufsbegleitend)
- BWL – Internationales Handelsmanagement & Logistik
- BWL – Industrielles Dienstleistungsmanagement
- BWL – Energie- und Wassermanagement
- Internationale Wirtschaft – Emerging Markets
For all other degree programs, an assessment test in focus course T is required.
Language skills
No separate language test is required. The “German” section of the assessment test is sufficient for this purpose, provided that it has been passed with a grade of “sufficient.”
