Transatlantic Summer School 2026 on Sustainability in Detroit

The Summer School is a co-operation between Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences, Hochschule Harz, the Wayne State University and the Iowa State University. It began with a vision that we are continuing to build together.

In 2026, Wayne State University (USA) will host the “Transatlantic Summer School on Sustainability in Detroit”  from August 01 to August 14 at its beautiful campus in the heart of this vibrant city. This summer, participating students will work together with project partners such as the Metropolitan Museum of Design Detroit and other local non-profit organisations in the fields of energy, urban planning, and mobility, in small project groups on concrete tasks from the real everyday life of the project partners.

The interdisciplinary nature of the students and the different backgrounds of the participating universities from Germany and the USA guarantee a diverse perspective on the tasks at hand. This results in exciting and valuable teamwork experiences.
