The duties of teaching staff for special duties primarily include contributing to teaching and examinations. In addition, a teaching staff member for special duties may advise students and supervise internships, projects, and field trips/excursions.
This specific area of work is governed by Section 42 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW).
