"Expert in 3D, Computer Graphics, and Visualisation"

A picture is worth a thousand words – presenting complex concepts through clear illustrations and images is not a new idea. Today, computer graphics provides the techniques and tools to make large datasets interactively tangible: 3D computer games, virtual realities, and scientific visualisation are just the beginning. The future developments of computer graphics are taught and researched by Prof. Gordon Müller at Hochschule Ruhr West (HRW).

Born in Cologne, he studied Computer Science at the University of Bonn with a focus on Computer Graphics. After completing his diploma in 1997, he worked as a Research Associate first at the University of Bonn and then at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where he completed his PhD at the Institute of Computer Graphics, focusing on efficient 3D visualisation.

In early 2001, Prof. Müller moved to industry, initially working as a Project Manager on photorealistic rendering techniques and facial animation for the character animation software Poser. From 2003 to 2008, he served as Technical Development Manager at BioSolveIT GmbH, a company providing services and software development in the field of cheminformatics.

In 2008, he became Head of Software Development at SICAT GmbH & Co. KG, a medical technology company offering high-precision applications based on 3D and 4D image data. In addition to addressing challenges in volume visualisation, he focused on agile development processes and regulatory frameworks for medical software development.

In 2014, Prof. Gordon Müller accepted a professorship at HRW in Computer Visualisation and moved to the Ruhr area with his family.
