Join us in supporting young people on their path into professional life
As a professor at HRW, you play a key role in shaping practice-oriented teaching, engage in research, and take on responsibilities in academic self-governance.
We look forward to working with you to accompany and support our students on their educational and career paths.
Information about a professorship at a University of Applied Sciences
Section 3 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Teaching Load Regulation (Lehrverpflichtungsverordnung NRW, LVV) governs the extent of the teaching obligation. For professors at Universities of Applied Sciences, this amounts to 18 teaching hours per week (SWS). The LVV also regulates options for crediting/reducing the teaching load, e.g. through lectures, exercises, and seminars.
For a professorship at a University of Applied Sciences (HAW) such as HRW, a habilitation is not required. Instead, the following are important:
- a completed university degree
- the ability to conduct academic/scientific work
- at least five years of professional experience, partly outside a university, in a field matching the subject of the vacancy announcement
- pedagogical aptitude
In addition to the general requirements under civil service law, the appointment requirements are regulated in Section 36 of the Higher Education Act (Hochschulgesetz).
