Goals - Positive Computing

Objectives of the Institute of Positive Computing

The Institute of Positive Computing deals with the development, implementation and realization of information and communication systems of different sizes, designs and types. The focus is on the well-being, motivation and participation of people as a central design aspect.
To this end, technological solutions are to be developed, taking into account human needs and social issues, which support individuals and communities in developing their potential and bringing it to optimum effect.

The prerequisite for this project is, on the one hand, the removal of access barriers such as those that can arise due to different usage patterns, cultural backgrounds or expertise. On the other hand, the technology must be designed in such a way that people perceive it positively (empowering/supportive) instead of facing the consequences of its use with negative feelings (threatening/overwhelming).

The institute investigates and implements this way of thinking and research perspective in a transdisciplinary approach. Initially, cross-generational challenges will be addressed in order to contribute to solving social problems and challenges (such as the current demographic change) through the positive use of ICT and to open up new research and business areas in the long term.
