In 2009, Werner A. Halver was appointed Professor of Economics, Economic Policy, and Economic Geography at Hochschule Ruhr West. At the Mülheim campus, he initially established and later, as Founding Dean, developed Faculty 2 for Economics.
Werner Halver completed his diploma studies in 1991 at the University of Cologne, specialising in Geography, Economics, and Economic History. Subsequently, he worked as a Research Associate at the Economic and Social Geography Institute of the University of Cologne (Faculty of Economics) as well as at the Institute for Economic Policy at the same university. In 1996, he earned his doctorate with a thesis on industrial location decisions under Prof. Dr Voppel. In 1997, he founded the consulting firm Dr Halver Research. In 2004, he was initially appointed Visiting Professor (Economics and Economic and Social Policy) and later Professor on a fixed-term contract (Economics, Economic Geography, and Economic History) at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences (Remagen and Koblenz campuses).
Werner Halver is a member of the German Society for Foreign Policy and is actively involved in integrating economic topics into the curricula of general secondary schools. Furthermore, he advises companies and politicians on internationalisation and dealing with foreign markets. In 1999, he worked as a development expert in Tirana, Albania, on behalf of the Carl Duisberg Society. In 2007, he led a labour market project in the People’s Republic of China commissioned by the EU and GTZ.
Werner Halver lives with his family in the southwest of North Rhine-Westphalia.
