Prof. Dr Sonja Schade has been teaching and researching at Hochschule Ruhr West since 1 March 2018 in the field of Industry 4.0, particularly in digitalised logistics. On 1 September 2020, she was appointed Professor for General Business Administration and Logistics. She engages equally with traditional approaches to Supply Chain Management as well as current concepts in Logistics 4.0 and sustainable logistics. Additionally, she offers courses in Production Management and Project Management.
Before joining HRW, she was Head of Logistics at a medium-sized steel processing company. There, she completely redeveloped the logistics site in Germany and introduced a digital warehouse management system. She was also responsible for the internationalisation of logistics.
During her doctoral studies, she gained project experience supporting an international cooperation project at a Swedish consultancy. Currently, she is exploring the potentials of additive manufacturing in the central Ruhr region.
Her fascination with production management began during her studies in Economics at Ruhr University Bochum. During her doctorate under Prof. Dr Steven, she developed a controlling concept for cooperatively producing medium-sized enterprises.
