Fields of Teaching: Marketing and International Marketing
Expert in applied brand management, intercultural communication and social media
Prof. Dr Simone Roth was appointed to Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences in October 2018 and represents the field of teaching General Business Administration, particularly Marketing and International Marketing. She is also Representative for Internationalisation at the Institute of Business Administration at Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences.
Currently, Simone Roth is also involved in the BMBF-funded research project “RuhrBotS – Citizen-oriented and user-centred social robots in the municipal administrations of the Ruhr metropolis”. In addition, she is active as a member of the European university alliance project “Charm-EU”.
Prior to this, she was Professor of International Marketing at brand university, University of Design and Communication (Hamburg) for four years and served as Head of the Master’s degree course International Brand Management. Furthermore, she was Vice President of the university for three and a half years.
Her professional experience is based on ten years of work as a senior executive in various management positions at Henkel Beauty Care in international marketing, national marketing, sales and as Director of the Executive Office for Beauty Care (Düsseldorf). Before that, she worked for four years as a Senior Consultant at the brand consultancy Esch. The Brand Consultants (Saarlouis).
As part of Henkel’s executive academy, she completed programmes at the Thunderbird School of Global Management (Glendale, Arizona, USA), the IESE Business School, University of Navarra (Barcelona, Spain), and the Cranfield School of Management (Cranfield, England).
She completed her doctorate in the field of brand communication, focusing on the use of sound and music in brand building. She completed her studies in economics and business administration as Diplom-Kauffrau at Justus Liebig University Giessen, specialising in marketing, statistics and human resources.
Simone Roth is an alumna of the “Business Women School” of the Bertelsmann Foundation, which promotes women in leadership positions.

- Since March 2016, she has been a jury member for the German Brand Award, presented by the German Design Council.
