Prof. Dr. Christian Cornelissen

Professor Dr Cornelissen has been a Professor of Technical Project Management at HRW since 2017, primarily within the Industrial Service Management degree programme. His teaching focuses particularly on project management, energy management, quality assurance, and service engineering. He also engages with these topics outside the university to incorporate current developments into his teaching.

Prof Cornelissen is an IRCA Associate Auditor, holds accreditation as an energy auditor under the German Energy Services Act (EDL-G) from the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA), and is a specialist auditor for the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS).

Before joining HRW, he worked for over six years in various roles at the VDE Testing and Certification Institute, including Head of Business Development and Deputy Head of Components and Cables. During this time, he served extensively as an auditor and was a member of several national and international standardisation committees. Prior to that, he worked at Nexans, one of the world’s largest cable manufacturers, initially as a project manager and later as head of the engineering department, overseeing development, laboratory, design, and process engineering.

Prof Cornelissen earned his doctorate in 2003 in High Voltage Technology / Electrical Power Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, where he also completed his physics studies.
