In September 2019, the University Electoral Assembly elected Prof. Dr.-Ing. Susanne Staude as President. On Friday, 20 March 2020, Minister Isabell Pfeifer-Poensgen and Ministerialrat Michael Oberkötter (among others responsible for universities in the Ruhr region) formally presented her certificate of appointment at the Ministry of Culture and Science (MKW) in Düsseldorf.
In December 2018, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Susanne Staude had already been appointed State Commissioner for the Office of President at Hochschule Ruhr West.
Prior to this, she had served as Vice-President for Academic Affairs at HRW since 1 October 2015.
Since March 2011, Dr Susanne Staude has been Professor of Thermodynamics and Fluid Energy Machines at the Institute of Energy Systems and Energy Economics at Hochschule Ruhr West.
Born in 1970, Susanne Staude studied Special Environmental Engineering at Brunel University London. After completing her studies, she worked as a development engineer in the automotive industry in England and Germany before moving to Cologne University of Applied Sciences in 2003. From October 2006 to October 2010, she was a Research Associate at the Chair of Thermodynamics at the Universität Duisburg-Essen.
In February 2011, she was awarded the degree of Doctor of Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) at the Universität Duisburg-Essen with a dissertation entitled “Mechanistic Investigations of Premixed, Laminar Flames”, graded magna cum laude.
