After studying Physics at TU Dortmund, Dr Olaf Henze joined the University of Stuttgart as a research associate, where from 1999 he investigated and modelled the behaviour of ferromagnetic materials under the influence of magnetic fields. In 2004, he completed his doctorate with distinction (Sehr Gut) in the field of Electrical Engineering Theory on the topic “Investigation and Development of Hysteresis Models for Use in Numerical Field Calculations.”

Following a period abroad at the German University in Cairo (GUC), where Dr Henze worked as a lecturer, and a stint in the patent sector, he moved to the Institute for Theory of Electromagnetic Fields at TU Darmstadt. There, as a member of the research group “Investigation of Parasitic Effects in Converter-Fed Drives,” he was responsible for conducting and analysing simulations of components of a drive system under the influence of high-frequency currents.

Subsequently, Dr Henze worked as a simulation engineer at Enertex Bayern GmbH, where he conducted various studies on energy supply networks for large industrial clients and developed network models of components.

After serving as a lecturer at Hochschule Hamm-Lippstadt in 2018, Dr Henze has been employed since 2019 as a Lecturer for Special Tasks (Lehrkraft für besondere Aufgaben) at Hochschule Ruhr West.

He primarily teaches fundamentals of computer science and programming languages, as well as fundamentals of electrical engineering and measurement technology.

Teaching

  • Fundamentals of Computer Science and Programming Languages (ET/EIT, MTR, FEEM)
  • Electrical Engineering for Mechanical Engineering (monoeducational degree programme)
  • Measurement Technology (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering)
