Expert in Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies
Since 2011, Prof. Dr. Marc Jansen has been a faculty member at the Institute of Computer Science, Hochschule Ruhr West (HRW), where he leads the Laboratory for Distributed Systems Architecture. His research focuses on the development of distributed and mobile applications, particularly within cloud computing infrastructures. Since 2013, he has also been working on blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
Prof. Jansen additionally serves as an Associate Professor at Linnaeus University in Växjö, Sweden.
Until 2010, he worked at the central IT service provider of North Rhine-Westphalia, where he was Head of the SAP Customer Center of Expertise (SAP CCoE), responsible for operating the SAP systems of the state. He also served as a lecturer at both University of Duisburg-Essen and Hochschule Rhein-Waal.
Prof. Jansen studied Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science at Gerhard Mercator University Duisburg and worked in the research group COLLIDE (Collaborative Learning in Intelligent Distributed Environments). He received his PhD from the University of Duisburg-Essen on the topic “Integrating Smart Devices in Java Applications”.
