Prof. Seabra works and conducts research in the field of alternative fuels, biomass processing, and utilisation concepts for residual materials. His expertise lies in mechanical and thermal process engineering.
After completing his Metallurgy degree at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, he earned his PhD with distinction in 2010 at the Chair of Coking Technology at RWTH Aachen University. His doctoral thesis was titled “Studies on the Briquetting of Metallurgical Residues for Reuse in the Blast Furnace for Iron and Steel Production.”
During his time in Aachen, he founded Blackballs Technologies GmbH in 2004 as a spin-off from RWTH. He has worked in mechanical and thermal process engineering, focusing on the engineering and construction of machinery and plants, including documentation and approval procedures.
Since October 2011, he has been a Professor at Hochschule Ruhr West in the Institute of Energy Systems and Energy Economics, specialising in Environmental and Process Engineering. There, he continues research in fuels, residual material utilisation, and biomass use, and leads the institute’s analytical laboratories. Additionally, he is Head of the Energy and Environmental Engineering (BSc) programme, a member of HRW’s Research and Transfer Commission, and a member of the Faculty Council of Faculty 1.
