Founded in 2009, Ruhr West is a new, young and innovative public university offering cutting-edge interdisciplinary bachelor’s and master’s programmes in science, technology, engineering and business administration.
As a university of applied science, Ruhr West has an emphasis on practice-oriented teaching and application-oriented research. Our close ties to a wide range of industry partners help ensure that everything students learn is relevant for the workplace. Moreover, there are plenty of opportunities for students to gain practical experience before they graduate.
With its two brand new, state-of-the-art campuses in Mülheim an der Ruhr and Bottrop, Ruhr West is based in the heart of Germany’s Ruhr region, one of the world’s foremost industrial regions with a population of about 5 million.
Learning at Ruhr West is characterised by individualised study, small groups, a diverse student body and an open university culture. Our young professors are highly motivated, and students can take an active part in the university’s ongoing development.
Ruhr West is designed as a university in the region and for the region, combined with an international outlook. Students benefit from our strong network of local and regional partners as well as our international connections, graduating well prepared for the global workplace
